This slow-paced, meditative yin yoga class takes you on a quiet journey through key energy centres in the body. We will soften into relaxed and supported asanas for two minutes or more, using sounds and visualisation to explore and harmonise along the traditional tantric system of the chakras.
This restorative style of yoga targets the deep connective tissues in the body – the ligaments, bones, joints and deep fascia networks. The body responds to longer-held poses by strengthening and lengthening the tissues, releasing blockages and allowing energy to flow more freely. The gentle, meditative style of yin creates space to tune into the senses and the physical sensations in the body, and with this comes inner clarity, composure and enhanced productivity in our daily lives. It is an ideal practice for those seeking the stillness of meditation while actively stretching or moving the body.
Check out the prep tips: this practice ideally requires lots of props to help create stable supports for each posture. If you have them, bring out your blocks and bolsters, or get creative and gather books, blankets, small cushions and large sofa cushions to use in the session.
